These are handy and comfy to wear with Rubber Boots!

What better socks to wear when going off to the woods to visit a Sugar Bush Farm. Hop on for a wagon ride and go check out the Maple Syrup process is always fun!

NS expecting a storm ( Weather-bomb) today

Hand-cranked wool socks on feet today!  Cozily awaiting the big storm, as the snow is already swirling around. MrB is cranking away and in his glory.  I would imagine later we will be outdoors shoveling, again wearing our nice warm socks. Just wanted to talk about the storm and put in a pitch for our socks.  Who knows I may be busy kitchenering later.

Adding to MrB's box of tricks!

Saturday just past, was one of our market days.  Sunday and Monday are reflection days.  Some days are good days, some days are not so good days.  Some days MrB has good knitting days, some days he does not.  Some days I (MsB) have good kitchenering days and some days I do not.  Saturday, MrB had an excellent cranking day at the market.  He cranked out all the balls of yarn he took to work on.  Oh Oh, it's still early now what to do?  Make tubes was the answer, but in the future, he will come up with another idea.  His idea is to make sure he has his baby hat pattern in his box of tricks so that he can make some from the left over yarn.  We sold some baby hats at the market on Saturday so some more were made yesterday to replenish the stock on hand.  The middle more colourful baby hat is made by using two strands of yarn making it 8 ply. I love how the two strands has created a new colour creation.

New Yarns to US and the Erl ~ to be continued...

All of these yarns were bought at our local yarn store.  It is always fun to check out the yarns at any local yarn store! We do have one more to share, but the sock pair has not been completed yet, so to be continued at a later date.  Look for the picture of MrB's Brown Sheep socks next!

New Yarns to Us and the Erl ~ #3 Lorna's Laces

The third yarn is Lorna's Laces.  This yarn too feels very soft.
I can't wait to see how MrB likes the feel of these socks on his feet.  The label says it is hand-dyed yarn. This particular colourway is called, Christmas at Downton.
The stripes are unique and thin.  I really like the striping and the shades of this pair.  The yarn is #1, super fine.  The yarn is Solemate, 55% Superwash Merino Wool, 15% Nylon, and 30% Outlast* viscose.  Although the label instructions say it can be machine washed cold and machine dry until damp, I hand washed them and air dried them by the wood fire. I am pretty sure that MrB will enjoy wearing this pair too.

New Yarns to Us and the Erl ~ #2 Lang Yarns -Aktion

This yarn is very similiar in feeling to Opal Yarn once it has been washed in hot water.  Before, it appears very stiff.  We had a little surprise with this ball yarn, that we have never had before.  When MrB unravelled the ball to wind it, out popped a little spool of reinforcement yarn the same colour as the yarn itself.  We thought, oh cool! MrB did use the reinforcement yarn in the heel of his socks.  It will be very interesting to see how the heels wear, as MrB is hard on his socks!  I have taken a picture of the completed sock pair, the little reinforcement spool (what is left) and also what was left of the yarn.  This yarn is a superwash yarn, 75 % wool and 25% nylon.  It was made for Lang and Co in Switzerland.  And if you really like the colour it is, COL 132.0413  PTIE 2115.  The website is

New Yarns to Us and the Erl ~ #1 Zen Yarn Garden

You might remember me posting a
while back, after Christmas about the 4 yarns MrB got for Christmas from me.  I thought he could use a taste of some different yarns.  This one is certainly very yummy.  Zen Yarn Garden, it is 70% superwash merino, 20% cashmere, and 10% nylon. The colourway is called, Plumelle, Serenity 20.  I would like to add also that it is made in Canada.  Here is the website if anyone wants to check it out.

8 days...

In my last post I asked, How many days till Spring?  The answer is 8 days.  Even if it doesn't happen to feel like Spring on March 20th the date of the Spring Equinox, I know I will feel Spring in my heart, as it will not be long off.  I glanced at my calendar on my desk, where I sit now typing this blog entry, and realized that our next Market stint will be a couple days into Spring!  Yahoo!  See you at the Historic Farmers' Market, Saturday, March 22, 2014.

How many days till Spring?

As much as I would love to be sitting on an Adirondack chair right now on a beach, I am not!  But I do have two Adirondack chairs sitting on the deck in the snow just waiting for me as I wait for Spring to come.  How many days till Spring?  Oh well, Adirondack chairs today are serving the good purpose of some awesome photo props instead.  And I must admit the colourful socks look really good perched upon them!  Wouldn't you agree?

Yellow for Daffodils and Mauve for Crocuses.... gotta think Spring big time now!
