A successful and fun day at the market today!

We are a market vendor at the Halifax Brewery Square.  The HistoricFarmers' Market takes place in a 200 year  or more old building.  The character and architecture of this old building makes for a wonderful atmosphere as you stroll through looking at what all the vendors have to offer.

Today was our first time in this particular location.  I have tried to capture of some the oldness of the building where we displayed today.
The floor is stone, and the walls are brick with very very high ceilings.  It was cool to see the rain pounding the glass when raining and also so very cool to see the glimpses of sunlight make there way in occasionally.

It is Canada Day long weekend, and there were definitely tourists buzzing around today taking in the Historic Farmers' Market, Brewery Tours and just in general taking photos of the inside of the building with so much character.

We had a great experience doing our show and sell today and it was very nice to chat with many of the tourists.  Many of which made purchases too!  Hope you enjoy the Hugs for your feet!
Showing some of the brick and character inside the 200 old buidling.

There's MrB working away... and see the stone or brick floor!

Tried to capture some of the beams and floor again along with our today's display.
Brick away up, look away up... and again MrB crafting his art of sock making!  Picture is a little blurred but it was the building more so that I was trying to capture today as I mentioned this was our 1st time in this location.  And it worked very well for us today, June 29, 2013, being the new format of the market.  You will see us back again July 27/13.  We may be in the same location or we may be in the Lower Courtyard.  This location is called the Upper Courtyard. I did not get a picture of the Lower Courtyard today but in the future I will try my best to capture some of the awesome building to share.

New Poll

I added a new poll for some fun, today!  I have not done one in a long while so here goes.  I am anxious to see the results mid July!  Have fun picking your favourite yarn of 4, before they become socks!

The BEFORE! (and the AFTER to come later in posting)

This is the Good Karma BEFORE Yarn that MrB and I dyed at the Good Karma Crank-in last weekend!  The 3 on the left are mine, and one on the right belongs to MrB!  I will post the after pic when the socks are cranked.  I will refer to them as #1, Mostly Agua , #2, Paler Shades, #3 Turkey Red, as I used Turkey Red color dye in them, these will be for MrB a gift from me for cranking all my socks ( I give him freebie pairs now and again) and  #4 MrB's Brightest Ones!  These sock pairs are definitely going to fun and frolicky!  I can not wait to see what they turn out to look like!

Getting Ready...

Getting ready for Market for Saturday, June 29, 2013.
This is going to be an especially fun market day.
It is going to be the first day of our new market format.
Socks Made On 88 will be debuting in the Lower Courtyard!
Although we do not know of our exact location yet, I am sure it will exciting.
Sometimes for market days I like to have a theme or dress in certain colours.
Saturday I will be sporting a Red and White attire to symbolize upcoming Canada Day that weekend being July 1st, 2013!
Here is a sneak peak of my outfit!  Go Red and White!

Good Karma 2013

Some yarn that was dyed Friday night and outdoors to dry!

Yarn now indoors drying as we had a little rain shower and Jim quickly brought it inside.

Notice the 3 bright skeins to the right those are mine!  The grey and beige are on a different drying pole and are not mine.

These little felt boots were made for my grandson-to-be and they are absolutely adorable!  We were shown how to make them at the crank-in and many of us are anxious to try our hand at making some too!  This picture shows the sock cuff up!

Here are the little felted boots cuff down and they are still adorable plus!  Also shown is a little pair of mittens with cables on them that I was also given for my little grand to be.  They are so cute too!  My little grandson is going to have super cozy toes and fingers this winter and beyond!
Good Karma Crank-in took place later afternoon Friday, June 21, Saturday, June 22 and the morning of June 23, 2013.  Once again the 2nd Annual Event was wonderful!  We met old cranking friends, and new cranking friends.  What a great group of CSM'ers.  We were also very fortunate to have Miss Jamie attend from MO.  Jim and Amy are fabulous hosts!

Late Friday afternoon and early evening a bunch of us, had a dyeing session.  It was super for those of who wanted to concentrate on their cranking the next day.  It also gave more opportunity for the yarn to dry.

Saturday was a slower day for dyeing so I did some myself and even talked MrB into dyeing a skein.  His is tremendously bright and can't wait to see what it knits up like.  I did 3, 2 for myself and one for him also.  So soon he will have 4 pairs of socks to crank for us, 2 pairs each!

Jim has worked on perfecting his yarn throughout the year, and has made it thinner.  The 100% is yummy for socks in the Canadian winters.  I am glad that I have 4 other pairs of the thicker yarn to compare to for warmth and comfort.

There were 16 crankers in attendance, myself and 3-4 hubbies who came along for the excursion.  Everyone had a good time, learned some new things, and socialized making new friends and reacquainting with the crankers met last as well.

MrB and I left Thursday morning to arrive in Belfast, Maine in the afternoon.  We met Sandee and Bonnie from CT and spent some quality time with them Thursday afternoon, evening and Friday morning and afternoon.  The 4 of us had a such a fun time!  MrB teases that he was with BS and Beyond, since the 3 ladies he was with initial were B, S and B.  Two Bonnie's at that, I let the other Bonnie be Bonnie and I was known as MsB as too not get too confusing.

I didn't take too many pictures this year.  I guess you may wonder why?  Well I think I was just having too much fun and forgot.  And MrB took his camera and I thought he would take pictures of the crankers and he too was so involved with his time there that he never even took his camera out.  Oh well I do have a few to share, but none of the others crankers and their machines.  Better luck next year for us to remember to do that.  Next year, Yes, I do believe that is going to be an annual event so if anyone has any inkling to attend mark it down for June 2014, as we would love to see you there!

If you are seafood lover you will love visiting Maine as they have a good fish and lobster just like we do in Nova Scotia!  The little town of Belfast boosts many little shops also.  We had a glorious time flitting from shop to shop.  Oh and one highlight was my friend running down the street barefoot in an outfit to get my attention!  Good laughs Great Company!  It is almost sad to leave after having such a fun time with fun people.

There were lots of Good Karma at Good Karma!

Look, its fits!

Look it fits!  This tiny adorable little hat found a new head, top to call home on a candy dish.  It will sit here for now until I find something else for it to fit.

I took this picture to show candy in it and also with the Canada flag as the candies inside are maple candies made in Nova Scotia.  There is one candy out of the wrapper so that you can see the Maple leaf imprint on it.

Now how cute is this hat?  Too Cute!

Will the Rain ever stop?... and baby and hats!

It seems like early spring instead of late spring!  Rain Rain Rain and rain some more!

We did have a market last Saturday but with overwhelming amounts of RAIN and perhaps the time of year for us, it was not a good market for us!  It was the not the market day for sales, but it was there at this market.  We really do think our sales are going to show a slow-down at this time of year, season.  We are confident that we have decided to appear only once a month for July, August and September.  This probably will not be our norm.... next year I am thinking our break will be June, July and August.  The reason we have included September in this years once a month appearance is because I am going to be a Granna-to-be and will be needing to travel to Toronto, Ontario early September or before. Mid Sept. I will be meeting my other son and gf also in Toronto for a little mini family reunion.  He lives in Northern Alberta and I saw him last June, This will be a super exciting time so I do not want to be worrying about preparing for a market.  I know purely selfish reason, but a very good one!

MrB has been busy this week experimenting with baby hats, sizes and making them from left over yarns that are our odd ball left overs that will not be used for anything else.  I am very impressed with them and really love them!  Sharing a pic here to show you just how adorable they are.

Baby Hats made from Left overs, Good Karma Yarn and other yarn from friend Alison!

Close Call

Freshly cranked, and washed socks drying on the line!

Oops close call, looks like a bird visited us while MrB and I went indoors!
MrB and I have been spending much more time outdoors on sunny days.  MrB brings Brigadier 88 out for some sunshine.  They have a merry old time knitting away together.  I have been sitting at the deck table doing embroidery.  This is what we came back to, while going indoors for a break.  Apparently a bird visited us while we were gone.  I got MrB to check Brigadier and the cranking on the Erl, as that would have been a disaster.  All is good, thank goodness.  And our friendly bird did not get the socks on the line either!  :-)  You all know what I will be doing tomorrow morning before we head outdoors again.  Ok I hear some of you snickering!  Well I must say MrB got his quota done all ready for this week, working on stock piling pairs for the fall and Christmas season, and made some more soap sacks for the markets.  All is just ducky, or should I say all is just birdie, or all may have been a little bit shitty!  LOL
