Back from Crank-in at Good Karma Farm

We had a great time at our very first crank-in!  We met some good people who are now our new CSM friends.  We met Jamie from the EGKC, and she is a gem!  Jim and Amy from Good Karma were so very hospitable, lots of room for all the crankers who particapated and attended the weekend event.

Saturday we got a surprise.  Those who wanted to were able to take their hand at hand dyeing some Good Karma Yarn!  Oh yes, I did this with great enthusiasm, so much so that I did 4 skeins.  I just love it!  I can't wait to see what the socks will look like.  I just may have to research that more and see what else I can learn about the whole process.

I think it is only fair that I share some of the hand dyeing photos too.

Photos always capture more than words can sometimes!

After everyone who did their hand-dyeing that wanted to, it was not finished.
All the skeins had to be bagged and cooked in the microwave for 14 minutes.
After been cooked, they had to be rinsed, and spun and then hung up to dry.
Since I was not cranking I took on the duty of helping out in the mill with these duties to make sure everyones yarn was processed and begun the drying.  I also helped tidy up the mess at the end.  Oh this was great fun, a good task to keep me out of trouble for the day.  I started about 11:30 and then wound it all down at 4 to go back to check on MrB and he had a pair of socks ready for me to kitcherner which I did but first have all had to put my feet up!  It was a great day and it was completed by having a lobster supper.  We slept pretty darn good that day as we were exhausted.  Sunday morning we did some more and then packed up.  Great time had by ALL!  So many thanks to all who attended and made it happen!  Yay to me too, as I was the one who  had the bright idea to bring everyone together for the event!  I am very pleased :-) indeed!

5 more days......Excitement hypes!

Who would have ever thought 7-8 months ago, I would be saying that MrB and I are so very excited to head off to a crank-in (sock school), our very first
CRANK-IN!!!!  Yippee!

I think this event will officially welcome us to the CSM World almost like being screeched-in!

We both are so looking forward to meeting people, learning things, and socializing with CSM folks who too have an itch to be involved in creating socks. This will be our first sock school but we know it will not be our last :-)  The process of packing and checking this and that off our lists have commenced.  I sure hope we do not forget anything, but that is really not in my nature so I think we will be fine. I will check in later in the week and see how our week of preparing goes. Check, check, check!  Blast off Friday!

MrB's 88th pair is complete!

The 88th pair of socks made on Brigadier 88 are now complete!  Unfortunately I can not post a picture of them as I mentioned before they are a gift for someone and they will not receive until the latter part of the summer.  If I remember I will post a photo down the road, but if you are a member of ravelry they have been presented there as an accomplishment for MrB, and the picture is posted there to boot! Well that was our excitement for yesterday!

Congratulations MrB!  You and Brigadier 88 are doing a wonderful job :-)  I am not bias... I just love your SOCKS!

88th pair ~ celebration time!

I have come here today to tell all that MrB has reached a goal to celebrate!  Since our name is Socks Made On 88, after Brigadier 88's serial #, I am happy to say that MrB is now working on his completion of 88 pairs of socks.  It just sort of happened by accident that this 88th pair of socks has been planned for a gift for a special occasion for a family member so that is even better yet as we will always remember who has the 88th pair of socks! This was not planned and purely happened by accident as MrB had been cranking away while I was trekking off to Alberta.  I am finally getting back to my sock duties and catching up on a few tasks and just noticed this monumental pair as writing it in the book that I keep track in of all the socks been made.  I must attach a little note to that special pair of socks and tell the new owner that they have a little story that goes along with their creation.  The pair is not quite completed but will be in the next couple of days.  They are still sitting on the machine, and then I, msb will have to graft the toes by doing my handy dandy kitchener magic!  I will be back to give the date of all cranked, kitcherner, washed, dried, and ready for tagging and wrapping!  :-)

travels, changes and more travel to come

I was in Alberta for a week visiting my son and then visiting my neice and family.  Always nice to get away and always nice to come back home too!  But a good time and visit had my ME for sure!

I have not got around to doing any of my sock duties yet since being home, but MrB just informed me that we got a notification of a url change for our website.  I just checked it out and yes sirree it has changed.  The new url has already been changed on the right hand side of this blog page.  I am going to share the change with all of you just in case you need to have it.  I will also make the necessary changes on our facebook page also, later this evening.

I am not real happy about the change as we will have to change it on our business cards and sock tags too, oh that means lots of work before we go off to sock-school (crank-in) next week.  MrB and I will have to discuss this further as maybe we can just use stickers (?)  I hate to waste all the cardstock we used or do we attempt to waste now a whole lot of stickers (?) now!

The countdown is on and one week from today we will be all raring to go to our very first crank-in!  How exciting is that?  Well it is very exciting for both of us indeed!  :-) :-)   I will check in next week as the excitement will truly even be more hyped by then.

Alberta bound for me

I am Alberta bound today to visit my son and other western family.  MrB may be spending time in his Krankin' Kave, but I can assure you he will have some quiet time to whatever his little heart desires.  Brigadier 88 will keep him company.  It will be interesting to come back home as see what his sock accomplishments may be.  He did knit me a nice e-wrap ( roll down top) shorty socks for travelling.  Thanks to Alison I am anxious to see how the panda yarn feels wearing them on my feet.  They feel soft!  I did not get around to taking a picture of them but maybe when I get back.  I have socks in tow for family.  I hope they all like the ones I have picked out for them.  I want to see them on all their feet and get their feedback!
Socks, Socks. Socks, they make fantastic gifts!  Our Socks are Hugs for you feet!  My western family will be getting their feet hugged! hahaha  Catch y'all later in a week or so. Oh I am going to try and hit a yarn shop or two also and bring back some yarn so MrB can knit me and him some nice new socks!

Results of recent poll

The results of the most recent poll are in and complete.  It looks like when I am now referring to MrB's knitting or cranking area that I should refer to it as :

MrB's Krankin' Kave

That was the favouritism vote that was polled, and I must admit I do like it as well :-)
Thanks to all you cast their vote!
