Socks for Supper is a children's book! If you ever get to the very end of the blog when read the start up page you will notice a list of children's books that all have SOCKS in them! I was going through my boys books over the weekend and was sorting them and noticed this one. I did not remember it until I read it and the story refreshed in my mind. My boys are 30 and 25 so it has been awhile since I read the book. It is such a good little story too! It is about being poor, trading socks for milk and cheese, only having two pairs of socks and needing more milk and cheese. The farmer's wife unravels his sweater so that she make more sock pairs to trade for milk and cheese. The other farmer who gets the socks, his wife is unraveling the socks to make a sweater. She uses all the yarn to knit a sweater and it is too big, so she ends up giving it to the farmer who is poor as she notices he does not have a sweater! It is just a kind make you smile book. No I am not having Socks for Supper!
The story reminded me of a conversation I had with a gentleman who wanted to barter chocolates for socks at the market!
And speaking of the market, we will be back there Saturday. This week we will be gearing up for our appearance and getting all our SOCKS (not ducks) in a row!
