Hello to all! We cancelled our last market attendance. It is unfortunate that we will not be able to attend for a while. When we know more... we will definitely update you as to our return. In the meantime, please notify us at our Facebook page, or via our email address sockson88@gmail.com. We will be happy to supply you sock pairs by our alternative method.
MrB is the cranker in this venture. He creates hand-cranked knitted wool socks made on our Circular Sock Machine, we call Brigadier 88! It is the #88th Erlbacher Gearhart Knitting Machine newly made. Me, MsB is the cranky assistant (not) :-) that runs the business side of things, networking, doing the sock tags, yarn ordering, kitchener stitching and more. MrB is studious, and is constantly cranking out new pairs of SOCKS Made on 88! Our story and my blog unfolds here... it all began Jan.3, 2012

My Back to the Market....RANT!
We returned back to our local market on Saturday, September 5th. We were excited to be back but also being proactive and cautious of making some changes for safety with some sanitizing issues. It is very unfortunate that not many potential customers did not like the fact, that I suggested that they use hand sanitizer before touching OUR sock pairs. This really annoyed me and also made me angry. I did not enjoy our stint at the market to say the least. Once we returned home and discussed this issue, I decided to revamp our whole display! Our display will not be so interactive in being touchy-feely! We also made a large sign to post on the rack and 4 small signs on each corner of the rack saying" Don't touch Please, Sanitize" We will see how this goes over with our next market stint later in the month.
I was very disappointed on the attitude of the general public that gave to me when I asked them to sanitize! They were disrespectful, not willing to comply, simply snubbed me and walked away! We are living in a different world now that started here in mid March. I really thought people would have more of an acceptable attitude when dealing with a small hobbyist business at a local market. Now it was a long weekend and there were customers from other provinces within our Atlantic bubble. Did they think they could come into our province and not follow rules? They are allowed to come here and not isolate, so they have already been given a pass. Do they think that the pass also includes not having to sanitize your hands and not having to wear a mask? I saw several people not wearing a mask, and several also wearing their masks with their nose not covered! OK so I am a vendor doing all I can do to keep myself safe, and thought that the general public would do the same to keep themselves and others also safe. What I saw, was not the case! We are going to be at the market again on Sat. Sept 25, 2020. I really hope we see a different type of market clientele. One that is using more common sense! I am going to try and not to be so disappointed and have a bit more of an open mind also. I admit that part of my initial reaction was partly because of fear. I want to feel safe at the market we have been a vendor at for almost 9 years going into our 10th year! I want our customers to be safe! And I want our socks not to carry covid to us or anyone else! Is this too much to ask?
A little rant from me, MsB, Bonnie... I needed to get this out there. I do not know how many of our customers follow my blog, but this is the place where I felt comfortable getting this message out there :-) I am really hoping that I can come back here again after September 26th with a much improved attitude and expanded message with a positive tone. Thank you for listening! Take care all, and be safe. Our Socks are Hugs for your feet! Hey, at least you can get hugs for your feet if you can not get other Hugs these days. :-)

Socks for Sale! :-)
Socks Made On 88 are still selling wool socks, just not in our ordinary way. Our new normal is that you contact us by email at sockson88@gmail.com or to message us by Private Message at our Facebook Page, Socks Made On 88. The most important information we need is the SHOE SIZE that you require. After determining that we will go ahead and send a picture of all the sock pairs we have available in that particular size. They will be numbered and you can tell us what # best suits your needs! We will paper bag them and then plastic bag them for your pickup. I will give you the details of payment which will be etransfer. We will arrange a mutual time for pickup. I will tell you where they will be in a secure place. This works for us, as we have been doing it since March 15th , but not really putting it out there often. Now you know the drift, hope to hear from you!
Thank You, Take Care
Bonnie and Blake

Photos from the last 3 markets in January 2020 and Feb 8, 2020
We had a market on January 25, 2020 and presented this new sock pair that we are trying out. Short Ribbed-top and accent solid colours. (Short-Ribs for short :-)
Here in Nova Scotia we have been having bouts of snow with storms. The snow was sticky to make a little snowman, our last market before Valentine's Day and also showing a new colourway, called Resting Place. This colourway actually reminds of an Icelandic pattern and coincidentally I watched a Hallmark movie about going to Iceland so the picture had lots of incentive from things around me this particular day.
Since December, for some odd reason or another I did not have access to this blog, so I am catching up as I was able to get on here this evening. Yahoo! Along with getting up to date, I had mentioned on our FB page that our schedule as been halted for a few weeks. We are presently waiting to get a medical procedure date letter in the mail...so not scheduling markets right now until we know how to work around that date when we get it. If you do not hear anything by Feb 26th we will have a pop-up market on Saturday, February 29th. But stay tuned and we will inform you with hopefully some advance notice. And both Blake and I apologize if this causes any inconvenience. You should be hearing from us soon!
It has been awhile since I have chatted and posted here, and I don't want to get carried away. Welcome to 2020 and most importantly Thank you to all our clients! We appreciate it dearly that you love our SOCKS! See you soon at the Halifax Brewery Market!
