MrB is the cranker in this venture. He creates hand-cranked knitted wool socks made on our Circular Sock Machine, we call Brigadier 88! It is the #88th Erlbacher Gearhart Knitting Machine newly made. Me, MsB is the cranky assistant (not) :-) that runs the business side of things, networking, doing the sock tags, yarn ordering, kitchener stitching and more. MrB is studious, and is constantly cranking out new pairs of SOCKS Made on 88! Our story and my blog unfolds here... it all began Jan.3, 2012

Wild Rose Country Bound or as the song goes.....Alberta Bound!
MrB (Blake) .... well I think we are past the introduction period of MrB and are moving on to using his real name of Blake! Blake and I are taking a short break, and taking a vacation to Wild Rose Country to visit lots of my family, hence the photo I have attached for this blog entry. Our next sheduled appearance will be Saturday, August 22, 2015.
The Historic Farmers' Market is in the midst of changing it's format with some fellow vendors relocating to different areas of the market making a new flow of the traffic moving in a different path. We wish all the vendors next week the best of luck in the new format! To our market customers, make sure you visit all the marketing rooms which include the Halifax Room, The Lower Courtyard, The Upper (Main) Courtyard and The Lunenburg Room. We will be there in a few weeks, so check here, our website or our Facebook page with updates to where our display will be located on August 22, 2015, as I will post that location closer to the date!
In closing, a very special Thank you to all our customers today, near and far we had a super-duper day, and that's because of YOU! Thanks again!

Our colour palette that we use to determine our sizes and Updates too!
The 2nd photo shows the 5 colour tags to match the different sizes of Baby Hats we make. I use our neon coloured business tags that are printed in 5 different colours. Blue for X-Large, Lime Green for Large, Orange for Medium, Yellow for Small and Pink for Preemie! I also use the pink tags to mark our Soap Sacks.
When I take pictures outdoors for my blog, I like to you use things or flowers in our front or back yards to make the captures reflect some of our personal life. Today features some of our flowering plants in our front garden near our retaining wall. It is also nice for us to see how our gardens develop over the years and pictures can be looked back upon.
A reminder for our market customers, we will be at the Historic Farmers' Market this coming Saturday, July 18th, the next Saturday after being July 25th and then again August 22, 2015.
As usual our bi-montly schedule will return in September. If you need to check ahead to see when we will be at the market in the coming months, our yearly schedule is posted over at our website.http://sockson88.wix.com/socks-made-on-88 under the Markets button.
And for those loyal customers of Socks Made On 88, in case you are wondering, we do plan to continue our market stints at the Historic Farmers' Market even with upcoming renovations to take place in the near future. We love the Historic Farmers' Market as it is our HOME, we are happy to be part of the Cooperative and we are looking forward to the next phase of our adventure there, in whatever capacity is resolved as a whole.
Happy Summer to ALL :-)

These should keep me busy today!
I am just biding my time as I wait till the mashed potatoes cool off, and then I am going to mix up a batch of fish cakes. In the mean time I am planning what I am going to do after that, which involves this pile of socks to be kitchenered. I think I will slide up on my bed (that is my kitchener office) and see if there is a movie on or some mindless tv and get started on these pairs. I still haven't caught up on the cranking MrB did while I was away. And he is knitting more today too so I must tackle these, to see how many I get done today! It is not a very sunny day and calling for rain so perfect little chore to keep me occupied soon.

While the Cat is away the Mouse will play...
I went away for 10 days to vist my grandson and his parents and to spend time with my other son visiting from Alberta also. MrB manned the fort at home and was busy cranking on the deck in the sunshine, making good use of his time, making shortie socks and stock piling for our Christmas season. He uses his spare time in the summer months to do our stock pile knitting. This seems to work out well for us!

The Cat, that would be me, MsB now has lots of socks to kitchener. I did get a couple pair done up yesterday but I will do some more gradually until I get caught up. As washing them and numbering them and tagging them needs to be done also. Vacation time is over, but just until the next one, which is only 4 weeks away. |
