We had a Green Christmas in Cole Harbour Nova Scotia

But today we are getting the white stuff falling... We are suppose to get 15cms, so let's see how much snow we actually do get today, Dec 27/15.  I thought it was a good opportunity to capture my Christmas themed socks for this year too! And if we get enough snow today I will be able to show you my new Comin' Ashore Boot socks later in my new boots.  Stay tuned or not!  Edited to add:  It is an or not!  We did not get a lot of snow so the photo of the high thigh Comin'Ashore Boot Socks will wait til another time.

September Schedule for Market

We always do the 1st and 4th Saturday in the month of September! Why is that you ask?  Well it gives us opportune time to catch up with family one more time, and also make a visit with my grandson to celebrate his birthday.  This year my little buddy Hunter will turn 2 years old!  September is still a very nice month weather wise in Nova Scotia so we want to take advantage of that too.  So see you at the market again, Saturday, September 26th, 2015, 7am-1pm. Oh and BTW on September 22 we will celebrate being at the market for 3 years!  We love being vendors at the Historic Farmers' Market and we are so glad it has been a good fit for us and selling our products. Big Thanks to ALL who have supported us!  I will be back for a post or two before the next market appearance. See you then, and bye for now from me, MsB!

New Fall and Beyond Colours for us!

Three colours from the new Rainforest Xl collection and one colourway from the Classics collection.  They include Helge The Detective, Anton The Inspector and Tessa The Snooper, as well as Exclusive!  They will all make beautiful Socks Made On 88 sock pairs once cranked out by Blake (MrB).

Also, look in the next month or two, for some more new colours to be released and added to our yarn stock from the Music Festivial collection. We have already pre-ordered 4 of them from that series to arrive at a later date.

We do not order every single colourway of every collection.  I only order the colours that I guess will sell easily as not all colourways suit our customer's desires!

So far I am liking these 4 colourways and will be anxious to see how they look knit into socks!

Home Sweet Home! Laundry time!

Home Sweet Home! Our vacation trip to Alberta was awesome! This is a picture upon our return, the beginnings of getting back into sock-mode. Our clothes line looks colourful today. We did a lot of tramping around wearing running shoes so our socks made a good pairing for touring and our activities also. Speaking of sock-mode, see you at the market this coming Saturday, August 22nd. We are very much looking forward to see the new format of the market and be a part of it. I will post again later in the week when I know of our exact display location for Saturday.

Wild Rose Country Bound or as the song goes.....Alberta Bound!

MrB (Blake) ....  well I think we are past the introduction period of MrB and are moving on to using his real name of Blake!  Blake and I are taking a short break, and taking a vacation to Wild Rose Country to visit lots of my family, hence the photo I have attached for this blog entry.   Our next sheduled appearance will be Saturday, August 22, 2015.

The Historic Farmers' Market is in the midst of changing it's format with some fellow vendors relocating to different areas of the market making a new flow of the traffic moving in a different path.  We wish all the vendors next week the best of luck in the new format!  To our market customers, make sure you visit all the marketing rooms which include the Halifax Room, The Lower Courtyard, The Upper (Main) Courtyard and The Lunenburg Room.  We will be there in a few weeks, so check here, our website or our Facebook page with updates to where our display will be located on August 22, 2015, as I will post  that location closer to the date!

In closing, a very special Thank you to all our customers today, near and far we had a super-duper day, and that's because of YOU!  Thanks again!

Our colour palette that we use to determine our sizes and Updates too!

The top photo shows the range of colours in our palette that we have chosen to represent the sock sizes we create to show and sell.  Our sizes are from Women's size 5 to Men's size 13.  Each size has its own colour of yarn that we tie on our specially made Sock Tags!  And just to mention once again, our Socks are made to match your shoe size!  We have found that this works very well for us and also very well for our customers buying them. A win-win situation.

The 2nd photo shows the 5 colour tags to match the different sizes of Baby Hats we make.  I use our neon coloured business tags that are printed in 5 different colours.  Blue for X-Large, Lime Green for Large, Orange for Medium, Yellow for Small and Pink for Preemie!  I also use the pink tags to mark our Soap Sacks.

When I take pictures outdoors for my blog,  I like to you use things or flowers in our front or back yards to make the captures reflect some of our personal life. Today features some of our flowering plants in our front garden near our retaining wall.  It is also nice for us to see how our gardens develop over the years and pictures can be looked back upon.

A reminder for our market customers, we will be at the Historic Farmers' Market this coming Saturday, July 18th, the next Saturday after being July 25th and then again August 22, 2015.

As usual our bi-montly schedule will return in September.  If you need to check ahead to see when we will be at the market in the coming months, our yearly schedule is posted over at our website.http://sockson88.wix.com/socks-made-on-88 under the Markets button.

And for those loyal customers of Socks Made On 88, in case you are wondering, we do plan to continue our market stints at the Historic Farmers' Market even with upcoming renovations to take place in the near future.  We love the Historic Farmers' Market as it is our HOME, we are happy to be part of the Cooperative and we are looking forward to the next phase of our adventure there, in whatever capacity is resolved as a whole.

Happy Summer to ALL  :-)

These should keep me busy today!

I am just biding my time as I wait till the mashed potatoes cool off, and then I am going to mix up a batch of fish cakes.  In the mean time I am planning what I am going to do after that, which involves this pile of socks to be kitchenered.  I think I will slide up on my bed (that is my kitchener office) and see if there is a movie on or some mindless tv and get started on these pairs.  I still haven't caught up on the cranking MrB did while I was away.  And he is knitting more today too so I must tackle these, to see how many I get done today!  It is not a very sunny day and calling for rain so perfect little chore to keep me occupied soon.

While the Cat is away the Mouse will play...

I went away for 10 days to vist my grandson and his parents and to spend time with my other son visiting from Alberta also. MrB manned the fort at home and was busy cranking on the deck in the sunshine, making good use of his time, making shortie socks and stock piling for our Christmas season. He uses his spare time in the summer months to do our stock pile knitting.  This seems to work out well for us!
Shortie Socks~ Tabbies and Double Picot Anklets

Stock piling  Mens Socks for the Christmas Season.

The Cat, that would be me, MsB now has lots of socks to kitchener.  I did get a couple pair done up yesterday but I will do some more gradually until I get caught up.  As washing them and numbering them and tagging them needs to be done also.  Vacation time is over, but just until the next one, which is only 4 weeks away.

But I captured lots of memories to add to my other Good Karma years of visiting.  This was #4.....already looking forward to #5!  It was a great event, great crankers and now more great friends!

Yes you can...

wear socks in sandals!  We hear it's a now and up and coming fashionista statement around the world!

I read that the Brits don't have to feel bad as others are joining them :-) and there has always been the odd person who wore them but were somewhat frowned upon.

I must admit I have it done it on many occasion also.  It could have been out of laziness or the fact I do not really care, but now I will be in fashion!

MrB and I took a brief photo session this morning to show you OUR socks in OUR sandals, but we would very much like to see OUR socks in YOUR sandals!

So this is also a reminder also that we will be at the Historic Farmers' Market on June 13, 2015, 7am -1pm.
