In Between weekend

The last Saturday at the Harvest Market/show went very well!  I think I did not come here and report that thereafter!  We don't have anything on the go this weekend but a little pleasure getaway.  Next Saturday is our debut at the new Market for us and we are very excited about that upcoming.  Also the end of the month we are very much looking forward to attending a Public Field Day at a farm.
MrB had cranked out a few pairs of new socks this week to replenish the socks we have sold and a new size to keep on stock.  We are gradually getting back into the swing of things for FALL, as there is one more week of summer!  I do not have the sock pairs ready, tagged and photographed yet....guess my butt has been dragging.....I will get them over here shortly though.  Monday would be a good day to check back in.  1 2 3 pairs awaiting for me.  They are kitchenered, washed and dried though so that's a start.  There are two Men's pair and another One of a Kind or One and Only whatever term you care to call them.  The two men's pairs are nice and conservative in colourways, but very impressive too!  The OOAK or OnO are very nice too!  They seem to be a great hit at markets for women.  We will have to test a men's pair too in the very near future!  Great way to be ego-friendly using some of our left over yarns :-).  It is always good to keep on the GREEN  track to do what we can to help our environment.  Have a great weekend everyone.  I will be checking back in on Monday or so and getting ready once again for MARKET!

September is Here!

September is here!  The days go by so fast!  Fall is in the air but we had a terrific summer.  Four days into the month already.  MrB and I are starting to get out of our relax mode slowly but surely.  We do have company for a few days so half being leisure and half been progressing into Sock-mode!  Thursday night company is departing and Friday we will have switched into high gear getting ready and focusing on a show/demo for Saturday in our very own local area.  As always, we are both looking forward to this event to see how our participations pan out.  It is always fun doing a new event and meeting new people and see how they react to our product, our SOCKS!  Throughout the last few days MrB has increased our inventory with some Baby Hats and a few weeks back also cranked out some more soap sacks.  He added another pair of socks to our inventory too yesterday, and today is working on a special  order for a friend of his son.  This pair will go off to Newfoundland to a gal who is an archeaologist.  We are very excited to see if they meet her wants and her needs.  She will have special delivery so need for shipping, that is a bonus for her indeed!  The pair of socks that MrB did last night are out on the clothesline drying.  When they are dry I will post a picture of them.  They are a men's pair in soft blues and grey almost appearing a very light mauve in some lights also.  The yarn is from Lanna Grossa ( sp ?)  and appears to be a top second for us to use, and Brigadier 88 likes it very much also!  Like MrB says, it slides through the machine, our Erl, like butter! It is a close contender to the Opal Yarn that we really like a lot!  Well thats our first few days of September update.  Thank you so much to all of you for following us along our journey!  I try to get here at least once a week to carry-on the Socks Made On 88 story, documenting it little by little in my blog enteries.  Solong for now, catch you again later,

BMM Yarn cranked to Socks!

Here is the Belfast Mini Mills yarn cranked into two pairs of socks for me!  I am anxious to wash and dry them and see how they wear as compared to the other yarn we have used.  These are both solid colours and they take some getting used to looking at them compared to the bright and funky ones we are accustomed to making, but I do like them!  I think I choose two good shades that go well together.  Here they are Grey with purple stripes and Purple with Grey stripes!  I call them my BMM socks!

back from PEI

Hello we are back from Prince Edward Island!  We went for pleasure but also went to check out the two mills there too.  The first Mill we visited was MacAusland's Woolen Mills Ltd.  They make an assortment of lovely blankets and have yarn also.

We talked to the Mill wondering what yarn would best suit Brigadier 88?

This is the sample skeins that MrB choose to give a whirl!

Hoping this yarn will make up a nice pair of cranked- out  wool socks!  But if it is cranky we may have to pass it along to a hand-knitter!

The second Mill that we visited was Belfast Mini Mills!  We had a really good time here talking to Hazel, Linda and Mom ( not sure of her name, but a lovely lady)  We had a tour of the mill and stopped and shopped for some yarn of course, and had an awesome little lunch at their Tea House!

Belfast Mini Mills has a Mill Store, Tea Room and Textile Processing Mill.  What a wonderful family operation!!

I bought 4 skeins of yarn to have MrB make me one or two special pairs of socks!

I bought 2 grey skeins and 2 purple skeins.  This is Belfast Mini Mills  Speciality Sock Yarn, 80% superwash wool/20% Nylon.

Spun at BMM I am hoping to have a grey pair of socks with couple purple stripes and maybe a purple pair with grey stripes!  Socks for msb....can't wait to see how they turn out....the yarn is so very soft , bet they will feel great on MY feet!

Blog in for my latest update

Hello Folks!
Not much to report, but yesterday and today we have been working to add some soap sacks to our inventory so that the 3 events we have booked in September there will be choices if needed.

Also I have given my Christmas order to MrB so he can work on them in case he gets busier once our fall schedule of events just starts taking place.

Here are the latest soap sacks!  I like them as they are a good colour for men plus they will go with pretty much every colour decor of bathroom and in general suit everyones' need.
