Just Daffy or Ducky!

These are just daffy socks, no they are just ducky socks!  Which ever term you prefer, they are nice and bright for Spring!

MrB knows better now not to make new products in a size 8 as he is afraid I may just snatch them up for myself!

The knitting pattern on these socks is Pyramid, if you recall we did have an off-white and a pale pink pair posted a few months back.

These beauties are in a Women's size small 5/6

Website announced soon

I was very fortunate to ask my step-son if he would help me set up a website.  We spent several hours on preparing it and getting it launched to announce.  I tweaked it a little bit this morning and tomorrow I hope to add some product #'s and Vela it will be ready to share with all of you!  What a undertaking that is, but I am glad we decided to pursue it

Well looking back, look what I a have joined and created: Yahoo groups, ravelry groups, created my blog, created my own rav group, got a crank-in started, started our facebook page and now a website.  Computer time, here I come, came and wore the T-shirt ....I certainly did do a lot of that in the last 5 months. But I loved every minute of it!

MrB said to me last evening, now you will probably phase out your blog?  I said No I don't think so, that's my first baby and it's personal and I do enjoy going there, being myself, saying what I want to say, expressing myself and it is less formal, professional and just plain old fashioned FUN for me.  I can come here and talk, and some soul listens.

So tomorrow sometime I will come back and officially announce the website :-)

1 down 2 more to go...till Fall!

One market down today and two more to go in May until we take a summer break and will reconvene market attendances again come Fall, in early September. This has truly been a very good experience and with every single market we do get more exposure.  The Erl certainly grabs the attention of passerbys.

May Markets:
May 12, 2012  @Petpeswick Yacht Club, Musquodoboit Harbour  9am- 3pm
May 26, 2012  @Hillside Market 50 Ritcey Crescent, Cole Harbour  9am-1pm

If there is anyone local who follows my blog and is looking for sock purchases, we also have an ongoing facebook page to show you which colours and sizes are available at any given time.  Just search: Socks Made On 88 or go to
www.facebook.com/SocksMadeOn88
 or email us at:

sockson88@gmail.com
Just because we are not doing markets in June, July, or August we will still have SOCKS available through those above mentioned contacts. I may even work on seeing about developing a web site soon and if that happens I will be right over here to annouce it.

We will be back doing markets again in September just in time for some early Christmas shopping.

September Markets:
Sept 8, 2012  @Cole Harbour Harvest Festival, Cole Harbour Place, Cole Harbour
Sept 15, 2012 @ Hillside Market, 50 Ritcey Crescent, Cole Harbour

We are also very much looking forward to attending a Crank-in in Maine in June!  This is like sock-school ...so you will never know what new ideas MrB will bring home to inspire new sock creations.

I would like to thank everyone who has been reading my blog!  I know that my blog enteries have surely slowed down in the last month.  They are apt to slow down some more for summer but I will be here when ever I have something new to report or to update.

I think my sock work is done for today, and I am going to take the rest of the evening and just enjoy some of the weekend now.  I hope you all have a pleasant weekend and I will be checking in again real soon!

To those of you, who are fellow crankers, Happy Cranking!

Baby Hats in soft pastel colours

A rabbit with no ears just looks plain odd, but a rabbit with a baby hat on does look cute!

A rabbit with hat off looks cute too!
These baby hats will be a new tester for our three upcoming markets, one this coming Saturday and two more in May!

Taking stock!

Taking stock today!  Taking stock of what yarn has been knitted.  Taking stock of what yarn has not been knitted that we have left.  Taking stock of all the socks we have knitted already for the 3 markets to come.  Taking stock of the yarn making its way so that MrB can make some solid pattern socks soon.  Taking stock of updating my calendars of markets scheduled now for the whole year until December 2012.  Taking stock of the applications I made of this week for a couple other markets, one is our own " backyard" community in which they are very excited to have us!  Taking stock of the crank-ins we have registered for to travel to.  And taking stock, of anything else I needed to catch up on doing tags, sorting, updating my blog, viewing my new face book page, and saying hello and welcoming new members to my online group for fellow CSMers, and trying to take stock also of all the new forum posts and yahoo posts for the other CSM groups so that I am not too far behind.  Also taking stock on my everyday household duties too!  And taking stock my days and week as it seems like a Monday and it is clearly a Friday!  So taking stock of my Friday, the 13th to bout, didn't start out good as I had an arse over tea kettle tumble outdoors... just a little stiff and soreness is minimal for now any ways.  Taking stock of the rest of my day, thinking its going to be a somewhat lazy afternoon as I pretty much got all done what I wanted to do today, and it is not my day to cook supper! It has been a taking stock day so far, hasn't it?  Hey take stock of your week, and soon call it a weekend.... I am!  Happy weekend everyone and Happy Cranking to those of you who partake in the making of socks process!  MrB is cranking away downstairs as I type this updated post.  He has a little furry friend keeping him company today and all next week.  I think Abby is happy to have him there in her little doggie world and she doesn't mind the cranking sound at all!  This is good as she can be a little nervous sometimes.  All is good here at Socks Made On 88, and taking stock time is all done!  Oh but taking stock of how many days to next market is 8 days!   Taking stock for today says bye bye!  Catch you at my next blog check-in, whenever that may be!  Sometime soon...

Post Easter ~ 123

Post Easter, 123!  Why did I give this post this handle?  Well for two reasons: one being the Easter Weekend is all over.  And even though it was a semi-hectic week for us, two birthdays, company and the Easter Dinner day, MrB still managed to crank out 3 pairs of socks.  Yes, 123, 3 pairs of socks.  The second reason I call this Post Easter is because I had to do some investigating to our own Canada Postal rates.  I discovered I did not know this as when I launched the facebook page/site I did not anticipate that I would have to find out this important , but informative knowledge in order to add the shipping costs to an order someone may want, when purchasing our socks and wanting them mailed across the country.  Well I soon got in tuned with the information I needed, and today I mailed my first two orders across Canada to Saskatchewan!  Now some of you that know me and my roots, will perhaps think, she is mailing them off to family and that is not the case.  Both customers are ones which I knew in my childhood and young emerging adult years.  I both recently became reaquainted with them both on facebook in the last couple of years.  I was thrilled that two separate people from my past now in my present periodically, wanted to and very much desired to be proud owners of a pair of socks from Socks Made On 88!

So we have a collection of socks, newly created ones, ones from our stash created earlier in the past few months, and some socks making their way from NS to their new destinations.  How exciting is that?  I must admit it is very exciting to me!  I wanted to do a little happy dance today, but I did not just my heart did, thinking ok this is a nice little venture to be on and so glad we decided to do it :-) big smiles had by me!  That pretty well sums up my weekend and day on a very high note.  One more thing to add while I am here....I never dreamed I would be so very happy, being retired, loving my life and doing something together as a project that both can very much sink our teeth into and just in general like what we do!  It is not a job we HAVE to do, it is job we WANT to do, and that makes a big difference especially in this phase of our life! I want to mention also while I am on a roll....I have always liked to write but never thought I was good at it, so now I also get to tell a story in my blog and that too is a lot of fun....I get satisfaction from coming here from time to time just telling my story of what's new and taking place in the life of msb at Socks Made On 88!  Sometimes with me the little things are soooo the BIG things!  What's that saying, don't sweat the small stuff! Well me I dont' I just lap up the small stuff up and enjoy it, and can't wait to report small stuff on Socks Made on 88 here at the blog.  But thats all folks for today, so till next time!  Toodle-loo
